Biography

Industrial Engineer (INTEC) and Economist specializing in Public Finance and Macroeconomics, a graduate of the University of Chicago and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Locally he has served as Director General of Internal Revenue, Vice Minister of Finance and advisor to various state institutions such as the Ministry of Economy, the Customs Directorate, the Superintendency of Banks and the CDEEE.

Internationally he has been a consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank, and has worked for the Governments of El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Uruguay on tax, fiscal and macroeconomic policy. In academia he has been a university professor and Director of the Department of Economics at PUCMM.

Biography

Economist (B.A.) with a Master’s (M.A.) in Financial Risk Management and postgraduate studies in Data Science. He is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), holding the professional designations Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Energy Risk Professional (ERP). He has broad experience (10+ years) in risk management roles as a consultant, practitioner and researcher, and finally as a regulator. He has more than 8 years as an instructor and lecturer in various master’s programs in financial risk management, derivatives and treasury.

He currently serves as Director of Economic Studies at the Superintendency of Banks. Previously, he served as Chief Risk Officer of the Securities Market Superintendency.

Biography

He has been Corporate Risk Director at Bankia, General Risk Director at BBVA Bancomer, Corporate Risk Management Director at the BBVA Group, Director of the Office of the Chairman at Argentaria, and Deputy General Director at Banco Exterior.

He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, is Professor of Strategic and Financial Management at CUNEF (Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros – Madrid) and Director of the Diploma in Risk Management.
