Fourth Annual Risk Conference 2026

What it is about

Daniele Vergari and Sebastián Esteva Chace, from CRIF, presented at the Fourth Annual Risk Conference (September 16, 2026) how transactional data helps manage customers better and grow without guessing. The presentation is in English.

The 53 visible slides start from the Dominican market, with data from the Superintendency of Banks and the World Bank on financial inclusion, indebtedness and digitalization, and set out three questions to filter any technology: whether it improves a decision already being made, whether it works with the data that already exists, and whether it pays twice, in risk and in revenue. They then explain transaction intelligence, which treats each customer as a time series rather than a score, and apply it across the credit life cycle with results from cases in Spain, India and Italy.

Objectives

  • Show why short credit histories and financial inclusion without credit open a data opportunity in the Dominican Republic.
  • Present transaction intelligence: categorizing account movements to estimate repayment capacity and risk.
  • Apply the tool to origination, monitoring, collections and customer value with real cases from other markets.

Key takeaways

  1. In December 2025 there were 2.62 million people with active credit, against about 5.3 million adults with an account; around 2.7 million banked adults have no credit.
  2. Circular CSB-REG-2026000006, in force since March 2026, shortened the memory of the credit bureau, while many customers do not have four years of history.
  3. A diverse history is worth more than a long one: with 12 months of account behavior the movements are categorized (16 macro-categories and more than 200 micro-categories for individuals) and low risk is separated from high risk.
  4. In one real use case, transactional information qualified 15% more instant loans and cut manual review by 25%.
  5. International cases include 9.3% more approvals in Spain with a 0.15% rise in the bad rate, and a 20% lower cost of risk in an Italian portfolio.
